Principal Solutions Architect, GFS Solutions Architecture

About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect with a unique blend of technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. This role involves partnering with major financial services companies, AWS Sales, and other AWS teams to design scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that solve business problems and drive AWS adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own program-level technical strategy for key financial institutions' AWS adoption across various lines of business, such as capital markets, wealth management, and institutional securities.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior technology leaders and C-suite executives, guiding their technology visions and strategic decisions.
• Create exemplary reference architectures that serve as models for other financial institutions.
• Drive alignment among customer's technology, business, risk, and compliance teams, aligning their technology roadmaps and architectural standards.
• Lead the design of large-scale, multi-region architectures addressing complex requirements for performance, security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Perform technical due diligence for critical workload migrations, ensuring solutions meet stringent regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Drive adoption of advanced AWS capabilities like AI/ML, GenAI, real-time analytics, and event-driven architectures.
• Identify gaps in AWS products and services, collaborate with relevant product teams to address them, and contribute to shaping AWS product strategy through deep customer insights.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
• Experience in cloud architecture and CXO-level engagements.
• Developing and implementing technology solutions and end-to-end technology roadmaps for IT transformations towards cloud computing.
• Communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences, including training, workshops, and publications.
• Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation, large-scale automation and workflow management, database design and implementation, and presentations/whiteboarding skills.
• Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.
• Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g., security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
• Knowledge of large-scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
• Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent.
• Presentation and whiteboarding skills with comfort speaking with executives, IT management, and developers.
• Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.
• Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g., security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA).
