About the role

As a Principal Solution Architect - Networking, you will serve as the senior technical authority responsible for defining the future state architecture, design standards, and technology strategy for enterprise networking platforms across hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments. You will lead the development of scalable, secure, resilient, and highly automated networking solutions that support AT&T's most critical business applications and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the enterprise networking architecture strategy across hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, and on-premises environments.
  • Develop reusable network patterns, reference architectures, and automation frameworks that establish standards and best practices across the organization.
  • Drive the evolution of networking platforms to improve service resiliency, operational efficiency, and infrastructure consolidation initiatives.
  • Architect highly available, scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant network solutions supporting mission-critical applications and services.
  • Establish long-term technology roadmaps and networking standards aligned with business objectives and enterprise strategy.
  • Lead the design and adoption of cloud networking, network virtualization, software-defined networking (SDN), and automation technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural governance for routing, switching, control plane technologies, network security, and distributed systems.
  • Partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, application development teams, cloud providers, and executive leadership to align technology decisions and enterprise standards.
  • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and drive innovation through automation, orchestration, and modern infrastructure practices.
  • Mentor architects and engineering teams while providing expert guidance on complex networking challenges and strategic initiatives.
  • Influence the technical direction of AT&T at enterprise scale by creating the foundational networking capabilities used across the company.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of expert-level experience designing and architecting large-scale enterprise networking environments.
  • Deep knowledge of hybrid cloud and multi-cloud networking architectures.
  • Strong expertise in routing and switching technologies, network protocols, and control plane design.
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN), network virtualization, and infrastructure automation.
  • Advanced understanding of network security architecture and secure-by-design principles.
  • Proven experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable network solutions for mission-critical environments.
  • Experience building networking strategies that support infrastructure consolidation, service resiliency, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking services across major public cloud platforms.
  • Experience with automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Understanding of large-scale distributed systems and the networking requirements that support them.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish enterprise standards, architectural governance processes, and technology roadmaps.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence senior technical and business leaders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional architecture initiatives involving engineering, security, infrastructure, and application teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience architecting enterprise networking solutions in Fortune 500 or similarly large, complex environments.
  • Advanced expertise in cloud-native networking and multi-cloud connectivity strategies.
  • Experience implementing network automation platforms and software-driven operations.
  • Knowledge of emerging networking technologies, observability platforms, and modern infrastructure practices.
  • Industry certifications in networking, cloud architecture, or security architecture.

Pay

$155,400.00 - $261,100.00 USD Annual. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.

Schedule

Full-time office role. Weekly Hours: 40. Location: Alpharetta, Georgia; Atlanta, Georgia; Bothell, Washington; Plano, Texas; Dallas, Texas.
