Principal Software Engineer (L7 Security, DeviceID PanOS)

About the Role

In the Layer-7 Security Software team, you will design and develop device identity solutions and other security features for next-generation firewalls. Your work will directly impact multiple product lines and contribute to the company’s highest revenue licenses. You’ll collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and field support throughout the software development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Innovate, design, develop, and improve functionality and performance of the Next-Generation Firewall, focusing on device identity solutions.
• Own and be responsible for critical components in the Next-Generation Firewall system.
• Deliver high-quality, high-performance features and improvements in critical components.
• As a networking and security expert, collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to architect innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, a similar technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A graduate degree (MS or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or a similar field (or equivalent military experience) is preferred.
• Proficient in C programming under a Linux development environment.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming and large-scale, distributed, and/or high-performance software design and architecture.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking software development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to leverage AI to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in the security or networking industry.
• A can-do attitude and comfort with learning new technologies and platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Redis or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Go or Python.

Pay

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $147,000.00 - $237,500.00 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, and work location. The compensation package may also include restricted stock units and a bonus.
