Principal Software Engineer (Java, Spring Boot, REST)

About the role

The Team Fidelity is seeking a Principal Full Stack Engineer to join the Fidelity Institutional Technology Development Team. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving customer-facing software solutions for FIT.

Responsibilities

• Apply strong software development and test automation skills to build scalable web and middle-tier applications using Java, JavaScript, Spring, Spring Boot, and Angular.
• Enable the Scrum team to accept development and automation frameworks and standard methodologies to ensure the right product is built the right way.
• Develop and maintain cloud-enabled applications following 12-factor design principles.
• Leverage Docker containerization and AWS cloud deployment/application management tools.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, and Jenkins environments.
• Work in an Agile environment, delivering software in sprints, and participating in code reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Development, User Experience, and Product Owner teams to design new features and keep up to date with latest technologies and frameworks.
• Mentor junior team members to improve team velocity and overall performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems, with at least 8 years of development experience.
• Expertise in building scalable web and middle-tier applications using Java, JavaScript, Spring, Spring Boot, and Angular.
• Strong foundation in software design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with web services (JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, etc.), API authentication, RBAC authorization, and SAML/OIDC.
• Experience with Docker containerization and AWS cloud deployment/application management.
• Experience with unit testing and test automation libraries/strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Jenkins.
• Experience in delivering software in the Agile environment.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to understand and parse business logic into technical requirements, experienced in an agile scrum environment.
• Experience with brokerage and financial services application development is a plus.
• Working knowledge of design systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of web security attack methods and measures to defend against them is a plus.
