About the Role

Collins Aerospace Resilient Connectivity Products (RCP) Engineering is seeking a Principal DevSecOps Software Engineer to join a dedicated DevSecOps team building cutting-edge systems for military communications. Collaborate with industry experts on next-generation embedded software, cryptography, and state-of-the-art computing architectures. You’ll design and deploy resilient, high-performance networks for UAVs, fighter jets, aircraft carriers, and ground vehicles—delivering low latency, high throughput, anti-jamming capabilities, mobile ad hoc features, and secure IP connectivity.

At RCP, we tackle defense customers’ toughest challenges by rapidly developing, integrating, and demonstrating software solutions that leverage cutting-edge innovations. Here, you’ll play a critical DevSecOps role in designing and developing CI/CD solutions while working alongside top-tier engineers and industry leaders. Your contributions will directly support mission-critical operations around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex automation pipelines for embedded systems in air-gapped environments.
  • Automate security testing and vulnerability scanning using static and dynamic application security tools (SAST/DAST).
  • Build and maintain containerized environments and applications.
  • Design and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure consistent and scalable infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate cutting-edge DevSecOps tools and technologies.
  • Build and maintain dashboards for observability and performance reporting.
  • Mentor and advocate for DevSecOps best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Advanced programming expertise in Bash and Python.
  • Proficiency with GitLab and GitLab Runners.
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
  • Advanced experience in Linux environments.
  • Proficiency with JFrog Artifactory or equivalent artifact management tools.
  • Solid working knowledge of IP networking and protocols.
  • Active U.S. government-issued security clearance (must be transferable).
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing in air-gapped, on-premises environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as BitBucket and Bamboo.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, and IaC tools like Terraform.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus, with experience in RESTful API integration.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools and working in Agile development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, meet project milestones, and deliver high-quality results.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range provided is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
