This role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL, and may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level based on qualifications. The successful candidate will work on the Lab Test team, responsible for mechanical designs associated with test lab mechanical equipment and hardware in the loop test benches. Design activities include cable interface assemblies, equipment racks, WRA hardware, and all associated supporting installations. The role involves developing new weapons systems demonstration systems for future business and includes both lab design and lab operations responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate cross-IPT/discipline collaboration in the development of lab designs.
- Procure hardware in support of mechanical designs.
- Serve as the point of contact with vendors, manufacturers, and technician teams for fabrication, assembly, and installation of test lab equipment.
- Develop solutions with minimal oversight and direction.
- Provide input into design and fabrication of development and test hardware.
- Serve as a manufacturing liaison during the build process to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
- Utilize strong technical background, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an in-depth understanding of military aircraft functionality and lab integration experience.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications (Principal):
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience, or
- Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience, or
- STEM Ph.D. and 1 year of related professional/military experience.
- Ability to transfer and maintain a final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance and obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Experience with mechanical systems design and/or integration in a laboratory or test environment.
Basic Qualifications (Senior Principal):
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience, or
- Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience, or
- STEM Ph.D. and 4 years of related professional/military experience.
- Ability to transfer and maintain a final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance and obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Experience with mechanical systems design and/or integration in a laboratory or test environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current, active Top Secret clearance.
- 2 years of mechanical engineering design experience in the test discipline.
- Knowledge of electrical components, power design, and considerations.
- Proven experience leading electrical design projects, including cable assemblies, data acquisition hardware, and sensor integration.
- Experience on a new capture program.
- Experience with lab and flight test instrumentation and data systems.
- Understanding of air vehicle systems architectures.

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00
Base salary offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses.
