Principal Security Architect
About the role
The Principal Security Architect for Cortex serves as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) driving Palo Alto Networks' cloud security strategy. This role involves building intelligent, automated remediation engines to secure cloud environments at scale, leveraging industry-standard best practices and establishing guardrails.
Responsibilities
- Build remediation engines for cloud security issues across major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, AliCloud).
- Develop in-product specialized agents, playbooks, and automations to accelerate detection and response to real-time threats.
- Prioritize and mitigate risks by prioritizing and mitigating risks.
- Collaborate with multiple teams including product management, engineering, and research to own the product development cycle.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in securing complex cloud-native architectures in enterprise organizations.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible with a focus on security.
- Demonstrated experience working with CNAPP Platforms.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Identity and Access Management principles.
- Coding proficiency, preferably Python.
- Problem solver with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platforms.
- Relevant security certifications such as AWS Security Engineer, GCP Security Engineer, or Azure Security Engineer.

Schedule
This role requires a full-time presence in the office, with flexibility when needed.
Pay
The starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed above. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus.
