Principal Security Architect
About the role
As Principal Security Architect, you'll be a senior technical leader responsible for shaping and delivering secure-by-design solutions that align with business objectives and risk appetite. In this role, you will tackle the most complex security challenges, directly shape Grid’s security policies and strategy, and define best practices. You'll be the critical bridge between business stakeholders, engineering teams, and security services - ensuring solutions comply with regulatory and security requirements.
Responsibilities
- Define and embed security controls across the full technology stack (network, application, database, operating systems, and cloud platforms)
- Establish and promote secure-by-design principles, patterns, and reference architectures across the organization
- Drive integration of modern and emerging technologies into secure enterprise solutions
- Risk Management & Governance: Identify, assess, and communicate security risks, ensuring alignment with organizational risk appetite. Ensure risks are documented, owned, and managed through remediation or formal acceptance processes
- Technical Security Leadership: Provide deep subject matter expertise across security domains including cloud, application and network security; identity and access management; data privacy and protection; and security operations. Guide and influence security testing practices, including SAST, DAST, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. Partner with engineering teams to promote and implement security services and controls
- Business Engagement & Communication: Translate complex security concepts into clear, actionable business language to influence decision-making. Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders, ensuring security is aligned with strategic objectives
- Mentorship & Team Leadership: Mentor and develop security architects, engineers, and project teams—raising overall security capability and maturity. Promote knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous learning across the organization. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and security-first thinking
Requirements
Multiple years of cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and design experience
Comprehensive understanding of multiple security domains
Demonstrated track record of anticipating emerging security threats, technologies, and industry trends, and translating them into actionable strategies.
Recognized as a security champion who leads through influence - coaching teams, amplifying best practices, and embedding security thinking across technical and business communities.
Qualifications

Dowstate NY: $184,000 - $216,000 a year
Massachusetts: $172,000 - $202,000 a year
Upstate NY: $153,000 - $180,000 a year
