Responsibilities
- Collaborate with basic science teams on disease‑specific projects, providing clinical expertise to identify and validate novel targets, and design pre‑clinical and clinical experiments for therapeutic development.
- Partner with cross‑functional groups—including discovery scientists, pharmacologists, toxicologists, and other specialists—to advance novel therapeutics from pre‑clinical to clinical development.
- Lead early‑development teams, working closely with internal and external scientists (discovery research, biostatistics, drug metabolism, modeling & simulation, regulatory affairs, global clinical‑trials operations) to design and execute early clinical development strategies.
- Take a lead role in developing and executing clinical pharmacology studies across all phases (I‑IV), including formulation/device changes, drug‑drug interaction studies, and studies in special populations.
- Provide early‑phase clinical pharmacology support through regulatory filing processes, preparing supporting documents and presentations.
- Develop and execute studies to validate established and novel clinical biomarkers (blood/tissue sampling, imaging, electrophysiology, wearable devices, behavioral responses) to assess biological activity in humans.
- Offer clinical and scientific expertise to evaluate internal and external partnership opportunities.
- Engage with the broader scientific community—consulting academic thought leaders, preparing posters/publications, and presenting at conferences.
- Work broadly with key functions across the company at research sites worldwide.
- Contribute to target identification by partnering with Discovery Sciences to bring a clinical perspective to early target validation and execute clinical studies that justify full development.
- Lead early clinical development strategy from pre‑clinical stage through Phase 1 safety/tolerability/PK/PD studies, Phase 2 proof‑of‑concept, and enable Phase 3 trials.
- Develop biomarker strategies through cross‑functional teams to advance therapeutics from First‑in‑Human studies through clinical proof‑of‑concept, including experimental‑medicine studies.
- Develop and execute clinical pharmacology strategies to support later‑stage development and worldwide regulatory submissions.
