Responsibilities

  • Lead computational biology strategies supporting discovery and translational research from target identification through clinical development.
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and other multi-omics datasets from preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Integrate molecular and clinical data to identify biomarkers, characterize mechanisms of action and resistance, and support patient selection strategies.
  • Support Translational Medicine leads in the design and analysis of genomics and other molecular profiling studies using clinical biospecimens, as appropriate, to inform biomarker strategies, patient selection, and clinical development.
  • Serve as the computational biology lead on cross-functional project teams, providing scientific leadership across Discovery Biology, Translational Science, and Translational Medicine.
  • Design and execute computational analyses supporting target validation, biomarker development, pharmacodynamic assessments, and analysis of clinical genomics and multi-omics datasets to enable clinical translation and patient selection.
  • Apply statistical, machine learning, and AI-based approaches to extract biological insights and develop predictive models.
  • Establish best practices for computational biology, reproducible analytics, and data integration across the organization.
  • Champion the evaluation and adoption of AI-enabled technologies to enhance biological data analysis, knowledge discovery, and scientific workflows.
  • Partner with internal and external collaborators to develop scalable computational solutions and support translational research strategies.
  • Present findings to multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership and contribute to publications, regulatory documents, and scientific presentations.
  • Mentor junior scientists and provide technical leadership in computational biology and data science.
  • Applies AI to improve team execution and decision‑making.

Education and experience

  • BS with 8+ years in Biology, Pharmacology, Translational Research, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • MS with 6+ years in Biology, Pharmacology, Translational Research, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • PhD with 4+ years in Biology, Pharmacology, Translational Research, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.

  • Regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30–50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision and distance vision.

Pay

San Diego - RayzeBio - CA $147,956 - $179,288. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
