About the role

The Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Scientist role at Veranova is pivotal in ensuring that innovative small molecule pharmaceutical products are consistently and reliably manufactured. This role bridges the gap between research and commercial manufacturing, focusing on technology transfer, process monitoring, and process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Transfer and Process Scale-Up: Responsible for transferring manufacturing processes from internal process R&D labs or external customers to large-scale manufacturing environments, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring robust processes.

  • Process Monitoring and Continued Process Verification (CPV): Analyzes manufacturing data to monitor process performance, identify trends, and ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Deviation and Investigation Management: Leads investigations into process deviations and quality events, applying scientific and engineering knowledge to find root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Process Improvement and Optimization: Continuously seeks ways to enhance manufacturing processes through the implementation of new technologies, optimization of steps, and cost reduction.

  • Documentation and Regulatory Support: Writes and reviews critical technical documents, supports regulatory filings, and participates in audits and inspections.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) with 15 years of experience or a PhD with at least 8 years of experience.

  • Proven industry experience leading and developing technical areas, projects, people, and services.

  • Strong experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Technology Transfer, and equipment commissioning.

  • Ability to logically analyze data, identify trends, and find the root cause of problems.

  • Experience in Hazard Studies, Risk Assessments, and working with toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Physical requirements: Stand, walk, manually operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; work with moving mechanical parts and toxic/caustic chemicals; work in humid areas with low or high temperatures; work with respirators or full-body Tyvek suits and supplied air/PAPR.
