Principal Scientist MSAT
About the role
In this position within Manufacturing Sciences and Technology, you will contribute at the therapeutic area level and represent the group on multidisciplinary teams. You will influence at the therapeutic and discipline levels, apply technical and functional knowledge to design experiments, assist in project design, and independently complete work. Additionally, you will support compliance activities related to safety and regulatory requirements, draft regulatory documentation for agency submissions, and execute lab-based studies to improve productivity and robustness of licensed processes.
You will lead the mammalian team in creating and executing complex experimental designs, oversee interpretation of large data sets, and lead transfers to commercial facilities for the production of clinical and commercial materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience; OR a master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0+ years of experience; OR an associate’s degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong background in designing and executing major experimental programs for biologics drug substance production in both laboratory and pilot-plant settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in bioprocessing techniques for development and optimization of biological products.
- Sound understanding of statistical experimental design and analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of the drug development process for advancing biological incumbents.
- Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment with dedicated engineers and scientists.
- Experience in drafting regulatory dossiers for agency submission.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supporting scale-up and technology transfer to pilot or commercial scale facilities.
- Extensive experience with protein and carbohydrate chemistry.
- Proficient in benchtop bioreactor operations.
- Ability to mentor and guide team members effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a scientific setting.
- Experience in process improvement projects to drive efficiency and innovation.
- Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, to support problem-solving and enhance productivity.
- Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how AI tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Normal functions as performed in a bioprocessing laboratory, including lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and complex data analysis.
Schedule
- May require occasional off-hour working for participation in teleconferences with other global sites.
- Some travel may be required to other sites (~10% time).
Pay
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $116,000.00 to $193,400.00. This position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program.
