About the Role

Nightwing’s CODEX (Cyber Offense and Defense Experts) division brings together an elite team of mission-focused industry experts who are well known for their ability to overcome the most advanced technical challenges. The team comprises engineers of multiple disciplines including vulnerability research, reverse engineering, CNO/CNE development, hardware emulation, system engineering, and data analytics. Our engineers do more than just work with cutting-edge technology—they ensure the missions succeed for customers in the intelligence community, defense, civil, and commercial markets.

CODEX offices span the nation and offer engineers the ability to advance their careers through mentorship, training, and an expansive technical portfolio that covers every side of cyber. This role involves vulnerability research, reverse engineering, and tool development for complex systems as part of a collaborative team supporting challenging, meaningful work vital to national security.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vulnerability research and reverse engineering on complex systems.
  • Develop custom tools and solutions for cyber offense and defense missions.
  • Lead technical tasks and teams to achieve mission objectives.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Experience with vulnerability research and/or reverse engineering.
  • Proficiency with IDA, Ghidra, or BinaryNinja.
  • Experience with source management tools.
  • Experience with assembly language (x86/64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks and teams.

Qualifications

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

Desired Skills

  • 8+ years of reverse engineering, vulnerability research, or CNO experience.
  • Proficiency in C/C++/Python.
  • Experience with full system emulation for research and analysis.
  • Embedded system analysis.
  • Capture the Flag (CTF) experience.
  • Fuzzer development.
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, routing protocols, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of cyberspace operations.
  • Experience with commercial and open-source forensic analysis tools.
  • Hardware reverse engineering experience.
  • Experience creating custom forensic analysis tools.
