Principal Quant Developer
About the role
The Principal Quantitative Developer is a core software engineering role in Fidelity's quantitative development team. Embedded within the quantitative research team, you will collaborate with investment teams on projects such as portfolio construction, risk management, and alpha research. Your responsibilities include contributing to the development of high-quality, robust, and efficient analytical software solutions used to enhance investment processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead/Own the implementation of a research project through the entire software development lifecycle applying a full-stack implementation.
- Add scale, reliability, and repeatability to research through software development standard methodologies.
- Assist Research teams in developing new models and products that provide an advantage to the organization in the marketplace.
- Thoughtfully apply sophisticated analytics and quantitative concepts to support investment needs and develop new solutions.
- Adaptive and effective team player with strong collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in a quantitative or computational field such as Statistics, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.
- 8+ years of experience in complex software development and working with investment professionals.
- Deep understanding and implementation of software excellence concepts.
- Advanced Experience in Analytical/Software Engineering skills including Python, Java, SQL and Linux.
- Sophisticated understanding of quantitative techniques and methods, statistics, and econometrics – including probability, linear regression, and time series data analysis.
- Substantial Experience with AWS cloud environment development and deployment.
- Good experience in either equities, fixed income, or alternative asset classes.
- Consistent track record in hands-on 'development ownership' of complex software solutions.
- Able to effectively connect with multiple partners, including fundamental and quantitative researchers, divisional partners and senior management.
- Thrives in working with fast-paced competing requirements and effectively delivering business needs.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $107,000-216,000 USD per year. Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors. Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
Schedule
Fidelity's Onsite Working Model requires a full-time presence, though expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
