Principal, Project Delivery Engineer

Posting range: $101,760–$170,050. Base salary is determined by market, geography, skills, education, and experience. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and continued salary growth.

About the role

The Principal, Project Delivery Engineer manages all activities for delivering multiple large and complex capital investment projects critical to Company objectives in Production, Networks, and other water-resource or operations systems—from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage budgets and schedules for multiple large, complex Capital Investment Projects and programs of varying scope
• Drive efficiency in project delivery by tracking delivery metrics (unit costs, target vs. actual costs) and pursuing more effective delivery and procurement approaches
• Deliver assigned Capital Projects in accordance with Capital Investment Management (CIM) system policies and procedures to meet asset needs
• Ensure Asset Owner satisfaction per agreed-upon scope of work for each project
• Coordinate with Operations personnel to align project delivery with operational needs and address operational impacts
• Ensure compliance with established regulatory criteria, specifications, and standards
• Interact with internal stakeholders and external governmental agencies to secure land acquisition, easements, rights-of-way, permits, certificates, and other project approvals
• Support Company-wide performance goals, targets, and Corporate Engineering initiatives established by senior leadership

Requirements

• 12+ years’ experience in water resources engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Environmental or Civil preferred); advanced degree preferred
• Valid Driver’s License
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required

Skills

• General knowledge of engineering, project management, and construction management practices for water-resource facilities, utility economics, and contract administration
• Working knowledge of regulatory developments, new technology, and trends in water quality, treatment, developer services, and related disciplines
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, safety and environmental regulations, water-quality and design regulations, and technical standards
• Strong process, project, and program management skills
• Strong quantitative skills (analytical, technical, problem-solving)
• Excellent written and verbal communication (report writing, presentations)
• Effective interpersonal skills (persuasion, negotiation, listening, cooperation, tact, diplomacy, internal consulting)
• Leadership presence to maintain collaborative relationships with senior management and key stakeholders
• Ability to influence organizational planning and resource allocation
• Demonstrated ability to solve routine and non-routine issues, developing effective solutions
• Ability to execute with urgency while maintaining project discipline and stakeholder engagement
• Financial analysis skills, including budget management, business modeling, and basic accounting

Schedule

Periodic travel with overnight stays required; generally less than 10% of total time anticipated away from office.
