Principal Production Test Engineer

About the Role

As a Principal Production Test Engineer (PTE), you’ll work in a factory supporting multiple programs at different stages of the lifecycle, including transition to production, production ramp-up, depot, and involvement in test strategy development. You’ll be recognized as a Subject Matter Expert on Production Test Engineering command media and use Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies to maximize test yield, efficiency, and value. This role influences test strategies, architectures, systems, and transition to production while ensuring compliance of prime hardware to technical data package requirements.

Responsibilities

• Validate new or modified test equipment for production use.
• Ensure test equipment and software meet product test requirements and that associated work instructions are accurate.
• Monitor and improve the test process through analysis of predictive metrics, trends, failure modes, and test yields.
• Perform preliminary investigations for problem resolution.
• Develop test flows and contribute to test capacity analysis.
• Maintain changes to the test equipment technical data package, including drawings, test instructions, manuals, and system software.
• Assist in non-routine fault isolation, diagnosis, and repair of products or test equipment.
• Participate in root cause and corrective action investigations.
• Provide technical training on products and test equipment for production test specialists and metrology personnel.
• Train new Production Test Engineers on command media and production processes.
• Participate in design verification and qualification testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with electrical/electronic testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF).
• U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable DoD Secret security clearance required on day one.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on hardware integration, troubleshooting, field testing, and engineering development testing.
• Experience in transition to production, including low-rate and high-rate production.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control.
• Expertise in developing and implementing production test strategies and command media.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and develop sustaining solutions to routine technical problems.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD, depending on experience, location, and other factors.
