Finance$152k–$173k/yrFull-time

Capital One is seeking an autonomous, action-oriented Principal Product Risk Manager to join our growing internal Risk and Compliance team within Network Operations. This role operates independently from the corporate Risk Office, focusing directly on operational execution, participant monitoring, and regulatory adherence across our network. Ideal for a self-starter who thrives in "grey space," you will help design, build, and enforce monitoring mechanisms for network participants, sponsored entities, and high-brand-risk merchant categories.

About the Role

This is a dynamic, high-impact position where you will play a central role in mitigating risk while establishing repeatable operational controls. Whether your background is rooted in operational risk, financial governance, or process and project management, you will drive key initiatives to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enhance frameworks to monitor network participants, sponsored entities, and transaction flows for regulatory adherence and compliance.
  • Build, refine, and enforce mechanisms to detect, monitor, and mitigate transactions in prohibited or high-risk merchant categories.
  • Translate high-level risk mandates into practical, day-to-day operational controls, workflows, and processes.
  • Support the oversight of participant complaints and sponsored participant frameworks to ensure financial institution backing and regulatory alignment.
  • Partner with data experts, internal audit, and legal/risk counterparts to drive task-oriented execution on evolving network mandates.
  • Provide direction to a small, specialized team, guiding process execution and data-driven risk monitoring without micromanagement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in operational risk, financial processes, compliance, or project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
  • Experience in payment networks, participant monitoring, sponsored participant structures, or card and merchant network risk.
  • Legal training or internal audit experience with a focus on translating governance requirements into operational reality.
  • Familiarity working alongside data management or analytics teams to build monitoring mechanisms and reporting dashboards.
  • Experience designing policy, monitoring, or enforcement mechanisms for high-risk merchant categories.

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
