Principal Product Line Manager – Campus Switching
About the role
HPE Networking is seeking a highly experienced Principal Product Line Manager to lead strategy, roadmap planning, portfolio management, and business performance for next-generation HPE Networking Campus and Branch Switching solutions. This role will drive product direction across networking silicon (ASIC), AOS-CX hardware platforms, AOS-CX software, and AI-driven networking capabilities while working across engineering, architecture, operations, finance, sales, marketing, and executive leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Own product strategy and multi-year roadmap planning for Campus Switching hardware, software, and silicon investments.
- Define and drive technology, portfolio, and business strategies across access, aggregation, and campus core networking solutions.
- Lead product lifecycle management from concept through launch, growth, transitions, and end-of-life.
- Develop business cases, TAM analyses, investment proposals, pricing strategies, and executive recommendations.
- Partner with ASIC architects, hardware engineering, software engineering, technical marketing and product marketing to define differentiated solutions.
- Drive roadmap prioritization based on customer requirements, market opportunities, competitive positioning, and financial objectives.
- Evaluate emerging AI networking trends, including AIOps, agentic operations, intent-based networking, predictive assurance, autonomous remediation, and AI-driven lifecycle management.
- Engage directly with strategic customers, partners, analysts, and field organizations to validate requirements and portfolio direction.
- Influence executive-level decisions regarding portfolio investments, platform transitions, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Support key customer opportunities, executive briefings, analyst engagements, and major field escalations.
- Act as the cross-functional leader driving alignment between engineering execution and business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in product management, product line management, technical marketing, engineering, or related roles for enterprise networking, cloud networking, silicon, or infrastructure products.
- Deep domain experience in enterprise switching, routing, campus architectures, network fabrics, cloud-managed networking, or networking silicon.
- Proven success leading complex infrastructure products or platforms from concept through launch, adoption, lifecycle transition, and end-of-life.
- Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives across engineering, finance, operations, marketing, sales, and go-to-market teams.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet switching, Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, enterprise campus architectures, and network fabrics.
- Demonstrated ability to use customer insights, competitive analysis, market data, financial modeling, and lifecycle economics to guide roadmap priorities and portfolio investment decisions.
- Demonstrated success influencing executive-level roadmap, platform, and investment decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or advanced engineering degree.
- Experience with networking silicon, merchant silicon ecosystems, ASIC requirements, platform architecture, and silicon-enabled differentiation.
- Experience with cloud-managed networking, AIOps, telemetry, automation, network assurance, autonomous remediation, or AI-driven networking operations.
- Experience with enterprise switching operating systems, network management platforms, and software-defined networking architectures.
- Experience presenting to executive leadership, strategic customers, partners, and industry analysts.
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking industry dynamics, including campus switching, cloud-managed networking, AI-driven operations, silicon trends, competitive positioning, and customer buying behavior.
Pay
The expected salary/wage range for this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level.
- United States of America: Annual Salary USD 172,000 - 349,000 in California
