You will be a senior member of the engineering team that builds the Oracle Managed Kubernetes (OMK) platform at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). OMK is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's enterprise-grade Kubernetes service that provides a managed, scalable, and secure environment to deploy containerized applications. It is built on the open-source Kubernetes engine and designed to simplify operations, improve performance, and provide deep integration with the broader OCI ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-team evolution of middleware patterns or runtimes to standardize interoperability at scale.
  • Define and enforce versioning, deprecation, and rollout strategies that minimize downstream breaks.
  • Drive shared observability baselines (SLOs, error budgets) and resilience patterns across several services.
  • Design software solutions and analyze requirements to achieve business and operational goals.
  • Adhere to and improve execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; provide guidance and coaching to engineers.
  • Develop and guide new software features and enhancements, ensuring accessibility and clarity in design specifications and documentation.
  • Lead code reviews in multiple areas to drive improvements.
  • Conduct debugging, troubleshooting, and performance profiling to identify and fix complex software issues.
  • Implement comprehensive software testing, quality assurance processes, error logging, monitoring, and observability.
  • Optimize coding for scalability and resolve potential outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to API functionality and integration.
  • Implement complex API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
  • Contribute to software, systems, and services development, ensuring review by senior technical leaders.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to less experienced developers in software architecture.
  • Ensure adherence to architectural standards through periodic reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and external networks to align work with software architecture.
  • Implement performance optimization and scalability strategies in software design.
  • Conduct technology research and evaluation for potential architectural changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer issues and align solutions.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance and support for customer-reported issues.
  • Advocate for customers' interests and suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and effective communication.
  • Identify and implement customer issue and defect handling processes.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on solutions.
  • Collaborate with the team to follow development practices and coding standards; provide coaching to less experienced team members.
  • Participate in peer review processes, ensuring code quality and adherence to acceptance criteria.
  • Apply industry best practices to software development processes.
  • Implement secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, testing, and upgrading of systems (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities).
  • Drive improvements, automation, testing, and debugging of systems to ensure availability, health, support, and reliability.
  • Manage and coordinate moderately complex tasks, monitoring timelines and deliverables.
  • Delegate, monitor, and prioritize work across multiple projects, providing technical oversight.
  • Collaborate across the organization to align on expectations and achieve shared objectives.
  • Leverage understanding of business leaders, stakeholders, and customers to ensure proposed solutions meet their needs.
  • Support inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse perspectives.
  • Identify and address moderately complex issues by analyzing data to find solutions.
  • Proactively escalate unresolved or critical issues with thorough assessments and suggested solutions.
  • Review, contribute to, and document problem-solving strategies.
  • Pursue learning opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in new areas.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.
  • Seek and leverage ongoing feedback and training to improve skills.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop ideas, recommend updates, and collaborate on process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Evaluate the impact of improvements on key stakeholders.
  • Solicit feedback on ideas for alternative approaches and methods for continued improvement.
  • Contribute to the talent development pipeline by participating in candidate interviews and providing hiring recommendations.

Requirements

Certain U.S. based or U.S. customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization/occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing requirements.

Pay

Hiring range in USD: $104,500 - $234,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
