Principal Platform Software Engineer
About the Role
Leads platform projects crossing multiple teams, evolving runtimes or middleware patterns for interoperability and multi-tenant scale. Diagnoses and resolves complex cross-service issues; enforces versioning, compatibility, and safe rollout practices. Drives observability standards, capacity planning, and resilience patterns across several workloads. Produces migration guides and adoption playbooks that raise ecosystem consistency and developer experience.
Responsibilities
- Platform Software Development
- Lead cross-team evolution of middleware patterns or runtimes to standardize interoperability at scale.
- Define and enforce versioning, deprecation, and rollout strategies that minimize downstream breaks.
- Drive shared observability baselines (SLOs, error budgets) and resilience patterns across several services.
- Software Development and Coding
- Design software solutions and analyze requirements to achieve business and operational goals.
- Adhere to and improve execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; provide guidance and coaching to engineers.
- Develop and guide new software features and enhancements, ensuring accessibility and clarity in design documentation.
- Lead code reviews in multiple areas to drive improvements.
- Conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix complex software issues.
- Implement comprehensive software testing, quality assurance, error logging, monitoring, and observability.
- Conduct performance profiling and optimization, building scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex API functionality and integration issues.
- Implement complex API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.
- Software Architecture
- Implement and contribute to developing software, systems, and services with managerial review.
- Recommend project or design scope and provide technical guidance to less experienced developers.
- Contribute to periodic reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and external networks to align software architecture.
- Implement complex performance optimization and scalability strategies.
- Conduct technology research and evaluation for potential architectural changes.
- Issue/Defect Collaboration
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer issues and align solutions.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and support for customer-reported issues.
- Advocate for customer interests and suggest product enhancements based on feedback.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on solutions.
- Practices and Standards Compliance
- Collaborate with teams to follow development practices and coding standards, coaching less experienced members.
- Participate in peer review processes, ensuring code quality and adherence to acceptance criteria.
- Apply industry best practices to software development processes.
- Implement complex secure coding practices to prevent security vulnerabilities.
- Development Operations
- Perform periodic maintenance and testing for system upgrades or patching (e.g., critical vulnerabilities).
- Drive improvements, automation, testing, and debugging to ensure system availability and reliability.
- Planning & Execution
- Manage and coordinate moderately complex tasks, monitoring timelines and deliverables.
- Delegate, monitor, and prioritize work across multiple projects, providing technical oversight.

Qualifications
Certain U.S.-based or U.S. customer/client-facing roles may require compliance with applicable requirements, such as immunization, occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing.
Pay
Hiring range in USD: $104,500 to $234,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
