Responsibilities
- Maintain smooth operations of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN).
- Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networks.
- Maintain technical expertise in networks and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gateways.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure communications requirements align with future needs and current usage, optimizing cost savings.
- Prepare or ensure appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis for short- and long-range planning of in-house systems.
- Potentially involved in planning and designing networks, including selecting hardware and software packages.
- Work with an experienced engineering team developing industry-leading virtual environments to support Department of Defense Cyber efforts.
Physical Networking
- Command line experience configuring Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Provide design documentation and engineering assistance on Cisco switches and routers prior to shipment and installation.
- Develop secure baseline configurations of Cisco switches and routers to a DISA STIG level requirement.
- Conduct analysis of alternatives and develop engineering basis for product selection criteria.
Virtual Networking
- Analyze VMware's network traffic management to identify and resolve misconfigurations, software glitches, and ensure seamless VM connectivity.
- Troubleshoot overlay routing issues within VMware NSX, ensuring smooth operation and uninterrupted service delivery.
- Configure vRealize Operations (vROPS) to monitor and optimize VMware NSX performance.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues across both physical Cisco hardware and VMware NSX environments.
- Implement automation strategies to streamline network configuration processes.
Requirements
- Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance (must be in place by start date and maintained through employment).
- Current DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE) prior to start date.
- Expertise in layer 2 and layer 3 networking, with ability to design and troubleshoot complex physical and virtual networks.
- Knowledgeable in VMware NSX design, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with remote-access and dynamic multipoint VPN solutions.
- Ability to configure overlay and underlay networks, understanding dependencies and implications of changes.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and perform schedule deconfliction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Core understanding of VMware vCenter and ESXi.
- Ability to develop automation scripts to deploy, configure, and maintain network components.
- Experience using tools to interact with APIs for automating configuration changes.
- CCNA level or higher networking certification.
- VCAP-NV level or higher networking certification.
Pay
Primary salary range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00. The final offer considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
