Expected salary range of $172,800 to $192,000, varying based on experience.

About the Role

The Principal IT Architect is a cross-project and cross-discipline role charged with the creation, governance, maintenance, and communication of Constellation's current-state and future-state Architectures. This person will work with Constellation leadership to set direction for the Architecture organization and support IT/Business functions. The role is responsible for providing infrastructure/platform/governance strategy, architecture, and technical leadership for a portfolio of technologies that serve as a foundation for Constellation IT business applications, services, and solutions.

A key focus area for this role is serving as the Responsible AI (RAI) Champion, acting as a critical advocate for ethical and responsible AI implementation. The RAI Champion bridges the gap between technical excellence and ethical considerations, ensuring AI solutions align with organizational values and societal impact. This role will be part of a larger Responsible AI team executing governance functions, including:

• Operating in accordance with Constellation’s RAI Policy and RAI Risk Policy (including Risk Matrix)
• Approvals and dispositions on net new or material modifications to existing AI applications
• Cataloging all AI use cases (approved, implemented, or denied) as part of a backlog for prioritization
• Advising and assisting in maintaining compliance with RAI policies, laws, regulations, and best practices
• Setting and cataloging approved and unapproved architectural patterns of RAI technology
• Advocating for and supporting the democratization and adoption of RAI capabilities
• Monitoring AI current events, industry benchmarking, and regulatory changes to support continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and security expertise to IT and business teams to identify security technology solutions and develop security reference architectures and strategies.
• Manage and monitor multiple intake channels for evaluating proposed and active implementations of AI across various stages (Ideation, Analysis, Design, Development).
• Ensure appropriate implementation of technology within both development and production environments by leveraging Responsible AI processes.
• Provide technological expertise and advice to IT and Business leadership in developing strategic information technology plans tied to AI.
• Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners, communicating status to key stakeholders regularly.
• Participate in governance mechanisms to ensure architecture deliverables exceed AI governance standards.
• Maintain awareness of trends and issues in technical expertise, evaluating new technologies and analyzing their potential business impact.
• Provide coaching and mentorship for IT personnel, participating in career development and recognition activities.
• Promote inclusion, teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization.
• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
• 10 years of technical experience designing, developing, and delivering medium to large-scale software solutions.
• 5 years of technical experience designing, developing, and delivering AI/ML solutions.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft technologies and Azure components.
• Recognized subject matter expertise in Generative AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Perseverance in the face of setbacks.
• Willingness to travel 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree or MBA.
• Professional IT Architecture education or certification.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to Responsible AI governance initiatives.
