Principal Instrument Technician

About the role

The Principal Instrument Technician supports customer needs by providing technical services such as equipment calibration, maintenance, and repair. This role involves servicing and repairing a variety of analytical equipment, including gas analyzers, and performing data entry tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers in the field.
  • Serve and repair equipment requiring electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment.
  • Perform data entry and database maintenance for tracking equipment rentals, calibrations, and inventory.
  • Work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, safety compliance.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory or equivalent environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with gases, chemicals, and analytical equipment.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Qualifications

  • Producing and interpreting equipment drawings and manuals.
  • Ability to custom build and retrofit equipment.
  • Safe and proficient use of hand and power tools.
  • Applying electricity and electronics theory to repair and rebuild equipment.
  • Computer hardware and software applications including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, safety compliance.
