Principal Information System Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for the IT organization, including providing hands-on support to end users as needed.
  • Hands-on leadership for complex technical initiatives.
  • Serve as a secondary technical decision-maker for IT Operations, providing recommendations to the Director on tooling, standards, and vendor issues.
  • Administer, support, and optimize cloud-based enterprise technologies, including endpoint, identity, and security management solutions.
  • Manage modern workplace technologies and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID environments, including Conditional Access Policies and endpoint security configurations.
  • Manage identity and access solutions, including Okta and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), to safeguard Treeline systems and data.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with in-house engineers and MSPs to support employees across multiple departments and countries.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, ticket updates, and knowledge base articles in accordance with established ITSM processes.
  • Collaborate with local and remote coworkers and vendors to design, implement, and continuously improve IT solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in systems administration, endpoint management, identity management, or IT operations.
  • A broad range of overall IT experience, including Windows, Mac, Databases, Storage, Security, Networking and public clouds.
  • Strong hands-on experience with the following or similar: Microsoft 365 Administration, Microsoft Intune, ManageEngine Endpoint Central, Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access Policies, Okta, Endpoint security and device management, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), PowerShell (Basic to Intermediate).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • A track record of taking ownership in issue resolution.
  • Organized and detail orientated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation, ticket updates, and knowledge base contributions.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and ITSM processes.
  • Experience working collaboratively with coworkers and vendors, both local and remote, while also being effective working independently.
  • You are curious, creative, and innovative and want to continuously improve our processes.
  • Previous experience working in a biotech startup or biopharmaceutical.
  • Related certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Patient, customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service quality.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues simultaneously.
