You will report directly to the Global HR Tax Compliance Director within Nike HR Services, Operations & Analytics—the engine powering a full suite of HR services for over 70,000 employees worldwide. The team is focused on delivering a seamless employee experience while ensuring complete regulatory compliance.
About the role
As the Principal, Global Mobility Tax, Americas, you will drive an integrated HR agenda and play a key role in activating a comprehensive compliance strategy across compensation, benefits, retirement, and equity programs in the Americas. You will leverage your tax expertise to guide all aspects of global mobility tax compliance for Nike HR, helping build a proactive, sustainable model of operational risk management.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted technical tax adviser to multiple HR functional teams while developing a deep understanding of internal operating processes and systems to drive cross-functional compliance initiatives.
- Support the Global Mobility Tax program, including vendor management, review and accountability for tax return filings, tax equalization calculations, and management of tax payments and settlements for assignments and trailing income (including equity compliance).
- Provide expatriate tax and social security expertise, consulting on complex transactions for assignees and business partners, including policy consultation and exception management.
- Govern tax technical positions on tax return filings and provide guidelines and recommendations on Global Mobility tax compliance matters to a wide range of partners.
- Continuously assess legislative developments to ensure internal processes remain current.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. Any suitable combination of education, experience, and training will be considered.
- 9–10 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 7+ years in Global Mobility Tax or Employment Tax.
- Demonstrated experience managing expatriate tax or global mobility tax programs, including tax equalization, shadow payroll, hypothetical tax calculations, and vendor oversight.
- Deep understanding of all remuneration components, including cash and benefits-in-kind.
- Experience advising business leaders, Human Resources, Payroll, Equity, and Finance teams on employment tax implications of compensation programs, benefits, mobility arrangements, and workforce initiatives.
- Experience interacting with federal, state, and international tax authorities during audits, inquiries, assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Exposure to broader HR compliance matters is a plus.
