Principal Financial Analyst
About the role
The person in this role will work from the Medtronic Operational HQ facility located in Fridley MN. This role will require up to 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with strategic project managers to identify, assess, and escalate financial risks and opportunities, quantify business impacts, and drive projects to successful execution and value realization.
- Influence key business decisions by delivering actionable financial insights, developing robust business cases, validating savings opportunities, and ensuring alignment with financial policies and objectives.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that streamline reporting, enhance financial transparency, and increase focus on value-creating activities across the project portfolio.
- Own and execute month-end financial processes, including WBS and cost center management, expense reclassifications, financial reconciliations, consolidation activities, and SAP/Planisware data integrity reviews.
- Drive annual strategic planning, capital prioritization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking to support organizational goals and investment decisions.
- Develop and deliver clear, compelling financial presentations and executive-level insights for Monthly Financial Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, and program governance forums.
- Collaborate across Manufacturing Platforms, Enterprise Operations FP&A, and Strategy & Technology teams to ensure financial alignment, accountability, and execution of approximately $700M in strategic initiatives.
- Establish disciplined governance, standard reporting practices, and performance metrics that improve predictability, accountability, and transparency across the project portfolio.
Requirements
- MUST HAVE (Minimum Requirements): 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree
- NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications): Strongly Preferred: Collaborator with excellent verbal and written communication skills, Comfort with ambiguity and change management, Active team member that will implement change, improve visibility, and drive impactful results across the GO&SC organization, Strong financial modeling, analytical, and critical thinking skills including a proven ability to translate financial data into actionable insight, Exposure to Operations and/or accounting for Operations, Experience in navigating and working within a matrix organization, Experience with Medtronic financial systems including SAP, One Stream, and Planisware, Cost Accounting Experience, Solid accounting (GAAP), financial and business management foundation, Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Benefits
Salary ranges for U.S. (excl. PR) locations (USD): $110,400.00 - $165,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California.
Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
