Principal Engineer, Core - Pinner Journeys

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and architecture for key product experiences, including home feed, search, and AI assistants
• Drive a comprehensive roadmap for integrating features and models to enhance user discovery experiences
• Lead design and implementation of advanced retrieval and ranking systems to improve relevance and monetization
• Architect integration of LLMs and other models with the company's core discovery mechanisms
• Establish technical guidelines for evaluating and measuring success in discovery and generative tasks
• Provide hands-on leadership in critical projects and support the technical growth of senior engineers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product vision with technical plans and ensure long-term success

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in large-scale systems and/or machine learning, particularly in search and recommendations
• Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or equivalent, leading cross-organizational technical strategies
• Deep knowledge of large-scale retrieval and ranking methods, along with representation learning and search systems
• Ability to drive significant architectural transformations at scale and manage long-term projects
• Exceptional communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly to various stakeholders
• Strong mentoring abilities with a focus on building engineering culture and teams
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

Pay

$242,634 – $449,541 annually
