Principal Engineer, Authentication

The role

The role is responsible for crafting and executing a long-term vision for Authentication that balances security with a user-friendly experience. The role involves recruiting and mentoring top-tier engineering talent, acting as the voice of Security Engineering, and driving data-driven decisions at the executive level.

Responsibilities

• Craft and execute a long-term north-star vision for Authentication that balances uncompromised security with a frictionless user experience.
• Recruit and mentor top-tier engineering talent to scale our security infrastructure.
• Act as the voice of Security Engineering across the organization, driving data-driven decisions at the executive level.
• Databricks' security innovations at major academic and industry conferences.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Data Security or related areas and expertise in two or more of the following: Authentication, Network, Kubernetes Security, Web Security, Governance, Privacy, Trust, Safety, Identity Management, Access Control, Key Management, Inter-Service Authentication, Secure Application Frameworks, Detection & Response.
• 15+ years of experience building large scale distributed systems with high availability.
• Led cross-functional and organizational teams to deliver complex projects.

Qualifications

• Bias to action and passion for delivering high-quality solutions.
• MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.

Skills

• Strong communication skills to explain and evangelize Data Security to senior leaders across the company.

Pay

The pay range(s) for this role is $180,000 - $240,000 per year. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on these factors, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
