principal engineer

Contract role for a Principal Engineer to join a large-scale platform rebuild moving into production and customer migration. You will act as a technical leader across multiple squads, shaping architecture, mentoring leads, and unblocking delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide Principal-level architecture and design (80% of role)
• Write production code (20% of role)
• Lead and mentor engineering leads across multiple squads
• Unblock delivery and ensure technical decisions align with business goals

Requirements

• Proven Principal Engineer experience with a focus on architecture and design
• Strong expertise in AWS, TypeScript, and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
• Experience with high-scale distributed systems
• Collaborative, hands-on, and pragmatic approach
• Experience with GraphQL and AWS Lambda

Nice to have

• Salesforce experience (their main CRM system)

Pay

£550 - £625 per day

Schedule

• Hybrid: Twice a week in London
• Initial 3-month contract (Outside IR35)
• Immediate start
