About the role

The AWS Professional Services (ProServe) team is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Engagement Manager (EM) to lead the delivery of complex cloud solution projects. The role involves combining technical expertise with strong project leadership skills to drive successful implementations of AWS-based solutions for clients. Key responsibilities include leading and managing complex cloud migration and implementation projects, leveraging comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning, bridging business requirements with technical solutions, and contributing to technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing complex cloud migration and implementation projects
  • Leveraging comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, architectures, and best practices to guide technical decisions and strategic planning
  • Bridging business requirements with technical solutions, facilitating engineering discussions and ensuring alignment with customer business outcomes
  • Distingushing customer needs into clear technical requirements and mapping them to business outcomes
  • Decomposing complex technical problems into actionable, deliverable solutions
  • Contributing to technical documentation and defining documentation standards

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses strong technology and program/project management experience, validates technical solutions against business goals, recognizes when additional technical evaluation is needed, and manages technical risks. They are expected to achieve and maintain relevant AWS certifications, develop domain-specific expertise, and effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and business audiences. As they progress, they will lead increasingly complex technical projects, shape cross-organizational technical strategies, and establish best practices in their domain.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of cloud architecture and solution implementation experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or a related field
  • Experience managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g. security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA etc.)
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies

Skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A degree in advanced technology, or AWS Professional level certification
  • Knowledge of compliance and security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
  • Knowledge of AWS services including compute, storage, networking, security, databases, machine learning, and serverless technologies
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards including HIPAA and GDPR
  • Experience implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
  • Experience managing executive customer relationships and key business stakeholders
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (like TOGAF, Zachman) and identifying the relationships between business services, information, applications and global infrastructure assets
  • Experience with enterprise systems including SAP, Oracle, and custom applications
  • Experience in performance optimization and cost management for cloud environments
  • Experience explaining technical concepts in pre-sales environments
