A growing and innovative engineering company in the Greater Boston area is looking for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join a small, highly collaborative design team. This is a full-time opportunity focused on advanced electrical hardware, power electronics, embedded systems, and PCB-level design. You’ll work on products from initial concept through production, giving you significant ownership and exposure across the entire engineering lifecycle. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Electrical Engineer who wants more than a narrowly defined role. You’ll have the chance to own projects, design power supplies and PWM amplifiers, work with microprocessors and FPGAs, build and troubleshoot prototypes, and see your designs move from the lab into production. Because the team is small, your technical input will have a direct impact, and you’ll gain broad experience across power electronics, controls, embedded programming, PCB design, simulation, and hardware development. Required Skills & Experience B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred 8-10+ years of direct, PCB-level electrical design experience Strong power electronics and converter topology knowledge Experience designing PWM amplifiers and power supplies Experience across the PCB design flow, including specifications, schematic capture, DFM/DFT, and layout Embedded programming experience with microprocessors and/or FPGAs Experience with LTSpice or similar circuit simulation tools Strong hands-on laboratory and hardware troubleshooting experience Experience using oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power analyzers Desired Skills & Experience Control theory experience Magnetics design experience High-efficiency power supply design Experience taking hardware from concept through production Strong understanding of embedded hardware/software integration Experience working in a small engineering or R&D environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Self-driven approach with the ability to work independently What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown 30% Power Electronics / Converter & Power Supply Design 20% PCB-Level Circuit Design 15% Embedded Microprocessor & FPGA Integration 15% PWM Amplifier & Control Systems Design 10% Circuit Simulation / LTSpice 10% Prototype Development & Hardware Troubleshooting Daily Responsibilities 35% Hands-On Hardware Design, Testing & Troubleshooting 25% New Product / Circuit Development 20% Prototype Build, Lab Testing & Validation 20% Team Collaboration & Technical Communication The Offer Full-time opportunity Opportunity to own projects from concept through production Work within a small, collaborative engineering team Exposure to power electronics, embedded systems, controls, PCB design, and advanced hardware development Opportunity for significant technical growth and hands-on learning You Will Receive The Following Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Vacation Time Stock Options Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future.
