Celestica is the brand behind the brands you love in tech, designing, developing, and manufacturing leading-edge Hardware Platform Solutions in Networking, Storage, and Server solutions—from general purpose to customized Cloud, AI, machine learning, Edge, and 5G deployments. Across Data Centers and Enterprise deployments, we partner with an impressive roster of the world’s biggest tech companies, including 9 of the top 10 global internet service providers, 4 of the top 5 global storage providers, 3 of the top 5 networking OEMs, and the top 3 non-X86 server providers.

About the role

In this role, you will be the driving force behind the power systems that keep next-generation Networking, Server, and AI products running. You will collaborate seamlessly across Celestica’s engineering and manufacturing teams to define system requirements and bring complex power delivery systems to life. Whether contributing to or leading the charge, you will own the specification, architecture, design, and validation of innovative power solutions for top-tier datacenter products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Power Architecture: Drive the design and architectural direction for power solutions in next-gen Data Center products, at the board level, tray level, and rack level.
  • Design & Simulate: Engineer, analyze, and simulate high-current and low-noise power delivery circuits.
  • Guide Development: Collaborate with Signal Integrity (SI) engineers on design constraints and guide CAD designers through layout.
  • Test & Validate: Lead system bring-up and debugging in the lab; author and execute Design Verification Test (DVT) plans.
  • Manage Cost & Quality: Drive component and supplier selection, manage BOM costs, and ensure designs meet strict cost and performance standards.
  • Innovate: Lead Proof of Concept (PoC) projects to test new power topologies and suppliers.
  • Streamline Processes: Create and maintain a library of reusable power design blocks to speed up development and reduce implementation errors.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years dedicated to power supply design.
  • Proven track record of driving hardware product development from initial prototype through to mass production.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly grasp existing designs, work independently, and take ownership of projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for producing detailed engineering specifications and test plans.

Skills

  • Power Topologies: Deep understanding of buck, boost, buck-boost, LDO, hotswap, OR-ing, load switches, and E-fuses.
  • Design & Analysis: Proficiency in high-efficiency DC-DC power conversion design, circuit simulation, control loops, stabilization, and determining phase and gain margins.
  • System Integration: Expertise in power-up sequencing in multi-power supply systems, comprehensive failure mode analysis, and interfacing with Processors, SPI, and I2C devices.
  • Optimization: Thorough understanding of power efficiency optimization schemes, component selection, and managing design trade-offs.
  • High-Power & Datacenter: Experience designing power solutions for ASICs and xPUs (1kW to 5kW range) and power distribution for Data Center racks (100kW to 1MW range).
  • Specialized Circuitry: High-power 50V hotswap and protection circuits, Intermediate Bus Converters (IBCs), multi-phase VRMs (VR modules as well as discrete components).
  • Simulation & ECAD Tools: Highly proficient with circuit simulators (SPICE, LTspice, TI WEBENCH), schematic/layout tools (Cadence Allegro), and Power Integrity tools (Sigrity PowerDC).
  • PCB Layout Leadership: Capable of leading PCB layout initiatives, with strict adherence to various grounding techniques, low-noise techniques, and complex thermal design rules.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; Master’s is preferred. Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Pay

Salary range: $142,000 - $222,000. The range described in this posting is an estimate and may change based on duties, credentials, experience, or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.
