Principal Database Administrator

About the role

This position involves designing and enforcing database security policies while supporting strategic database initiatives globally. The role focuses on architecting disaster recovery solutions and conducting performance tuning for Oracle databases. The candidate will provide technical expertise on critical projects and drive large-scale database migrations to cloud platforms. This role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure database solutions are reliable, secure, and scalable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related field and three years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator.
• Demonstrated expertise in Oracle RAC database administration and performance tuning.
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Responsibilities

• Define and implement standards for database design and performance.
• Provide expert-level support for complex database issues.
• Drive strategic database initiatives in support of business objectives globally.
• Design and implement database solutions, including migration strategies to cloud environments.
• Establish performance tuning standards and troubleshooting practices for complex systems.
• Automate processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
• Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Document architecture, operational procedures, and best practices for critical systems.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across projects and teams.
• Mentor junior DBAs.
