Principal Configuration & Data Management Expert
About the role
This role forms part of the Honeywell Aerospace CMADS (Configuration Management & Data Management) team. As an individual contributor, they will be responsible for shaping, governing, and assuring the adoption of enterprise-wide Configuration Management (CM) and Data Management (DM) standards across Honeywell Aerospace.
Responsibilities
Enterprise Configuration, Data & Digital Authority
Act as a senior enterprise-level subject matter expert for Configuration Management and Data Management across Honeywell Aerospace.
Collaboratively define, maintain, and evolve global CM/DM standards applicable across all programme types, ensuring alignment with recognised industry best practices (e.g., EIA-649, ISO, INCOSE) while accommodating regional regulatory needs.Regional Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration
Closely work with local Configuration and Data Management specialists, country leadership, and Engineering and Programme leaders to ensure compliance with relevant regional, national, and customer-specific CM/DM requirements (e.g., FAA/EASA/UK/MoD).
Translate global CM/DM standards into clear, implementable guidance that accommodates regional regulatory frameworks without compromising enterprise integrity.MBSE & Digital Engineering Standards
Partner with the Digital Team and CM/DM function to define configuration and data management standards for MBSE, aligned with INCOSE/INCOSE² principles.
Ensure MBSE standards integrate seamlessly with enterprise CM/DM policies and regional compliance requirements.Governance, Compliance & Assurance
Conduct enterprise and regional assurance activities, audits, and independent reviews to verify adherence to CM/DM standards, contracts, and regulatory obligations.
Identify non-compliances or deviations and raise Corrective Action Requests (CARs) where required.Programme & Delivery Oversight
Provide senior CM/DM governance and assurance support to complex programmes to enable delivery to quality, schedule, and budget commitments.
Review and challenge configuration and data management plans to ensure alignment with both global standards and regional requirements.Standardisation & Continuous Improvement
Identify trends, systemic issues, or regional challenges affecting CM/DM compliance.
Feed insights back into enterprise standards and governance frameworks to continuously improve clarity, applicability, and effectiveness.Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration
Build strong, collaborative relationships with Central Configuration & Data Management leadership, Local CM/DM specialists, Country and regional leaders, Engineering, Programme, Quality, Supply Chain, and Digital teams.
Serve as a trusted advisor and coach, helping teams understand and correctly apply CM/DM standards.
Qualifications
- BSc, Engineering, Project Management, Business degree or minimum 5+ years of technical project management experience.
- Demonstrable ability to lead and influence others.
- Proven experience in project management including budget ownership/management, resource allocation, scheduling, forecasting, and planning.
- Capacity to deliver against multiple objectives in complex matrix management environment.
- Strong customer relations skills with a total commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Must be IT literate and confident in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong understanding of HCM (Hardware Configuration Management), SCM (Software Configuration Management), and DM (Data Management) processes and tools.
- Experience in the Defence industry is desirable.
