About the role
Ultra Encryption, a division of Ultra I&C, is seeking a full-time COMSEC Operator in Warrenton, Virginia. The successful candidate will support daily operations of a COMSEC operations center, including key distribution, cryptographic support for communication systems, and Tier 3 equipment management. This position requires approximately 5% travel for customer meetings and training events.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operations for High Assurance COMSEC key distribution and full life-cycle management of electronic key requirements.
- Provide cryptographic support for communication networks.
- Engage in daily troubleshooting and problem resolution for offsite locations regarding equipment and electronic key issues.
- Operate Tier 2 distribution systems, including CARDS and KMI.
- Monitor and address incoming COMSEC-related requests.
- Maintain and update COMSEC equipment (e.g., STE, Viper, KG-240/250, RASKL KIK-30, SDS KIK-20, SKL AN/PYQ-10).
- Support monthly COMSEC training classes and occasional facility tours.
- Onboard new employees on customer policies and processes.
- Provide support to customer vendors and submit required metrics.
- Assist in system testing of new capabilities as requested by the customer.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal/customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation experience.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to lead problem resolution.
- Self-starter with the ability to integrate into a highly functioning, small team environment.
- Willingness to work non-standard hours for mission-critical needs (rare).
Qualifications (Preferred)
- 2+ years of experience with current COMSEC equipment and management systems.
- Experience with Key Management Infrastructure (KMI), iApp, Management Client (MGC), and Advanced Key Processor (AKP).
- Proficiency with COMSEC Accounting, Reporting and Distribution System (CARDS).
- Experience in electronic key ordering, distribution, and troubleshooting electronic key loaders.
- Skills in TrKEK creation, iApp key troubleshooting, and in-person key support.
- Coordination with Other Government Agencies (OGAs) and emergency key restoration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent job experience.
- COMSEC training/briefing and KMI certification.
- Familiarity with a Central Office of Record (COR) Notice.
Due to program requirements, candidates may need to obtain relevant security clearance or handle export-controlled material.
