SAIC · Florida, United States · 2 wk ago
Full-time
Hybrid role based in Saint Agustin, FL; candidates must reside in the area and go onsite 1–4 days per week. U.S. citizenship and an interim Secret clearance are required to start.
About the role
We're looking for a Principal Cloud Engineer to serve as a senior technical anchor within STG Delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has deep architectural and operational experience—someone who can design for scale, mentor engineers across the organization, and drive complex cloud initiatives from whiteboard to production. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and architects from programs across the org to standardize, shape, and scale our cloud infrastructure and IT efforts.
Responsibilities
- Architect at scale—design and evolve multi-cloud/hybrid infrastructure patterns that balance reliability, security, cost, and velocity.
- Lead technical delivery—partner with program leadership to translate business priorities into concrete engineering roadmaps and execution plans.
- Solve the hard problems—act as the escalation point for the most complex infrastructure, performance, and reliability challenges across the organization.
- Drive standards and best practices—establish and evangelize infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and security patterns that other teams adopt org-wide.
- Mentor and multiply—coach senior and mid-level engineers, conduct design reviews, and raise the technical bar across STG Delivery.
- Own critical systems—take end-to-end accountability for the availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency of core cloud platforms.
- Influence strategy—provide technical input into planning cycles, vendor/tooling decisions, and long-term platform investments.
- Bridge silos—collaborate cross-functionally with program engineering orgs within SAIC to ensure cohesive technical direction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 7 years of experience; 4 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
- Interim Secret clearance required to start.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Terraform-related certification (Terraform Associate+).
- AWS solutions architecture track certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate+).
- Kubernetes-related certification (CKAD/CKS/CKA).
- Proximity and ready access to a SIPR facility is a plus, but not required.
