Principal, Business Development Manager, AWS Private Equity
About the role
As a business development manager within AWS, you will shape and deliver a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s cloud computing platform within the Private Equity (PE) firms and their portfolio companies. You will identify key PEs to target, drive strategic and technical relationships, establish new business, and work closely with the AWS sales team to build long-term opportunities. You’ll collaborate with AWS corporate development, product management, partner, and marketing teams on initiatives tied to the PE community.
The ideal candidate combines a business background for CxO/VP-level engagement with a technical foundation to interact effectively with developers and architects. You should demonstrate strategic and analytical thinking, the ability to craft compelling value propositions, and a drive to work cross-organizationally to build consensus.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Business Development team driving AWS market and technical strategy.
- Identify and engage PE firms with portfolio companies that have infrastructure needs.
- Execute the strategic business development plan while collaborating with internal stakeholders (sales, partners, marketing, support).
- Work closely with PEs and portfolio companies to ensure their success using AWS, providing necessary technical resources.
- Utilize Salesforce and other internal Amazon systems to track engagements.
- Prepare and present business reviews to senior management on progress and roadblocks.
- Act as the primary liaison between AWS and the PE community, representing AWS’s interests.
- Manage a high volume of engagements in the fast-paced cloud computing market.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
- 7+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business.
- 7+ years of professional or military experience.
- Experience writing technical articles, speaking at conferences, or contributing to open source.
- Experience developing and executing large-scale GTM (Go-To-Market) strategies.
- Business-level technical knowledge in areas such as database systems, distributed computing, cloud computing, virtualization, storage systems, and CDNs, with the ability to differentiate AWS services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing, deploying, and managing AI products at scale.
- Experience interfacing with enterprise, SMB, and startup customers, converting requirements into high-level architecture solutions.

Pay
- USA, CA, San Francisco: $188,100 - $254,500 USD annually.
- USA, MA, Boston: $171,000 - $231,300 USD annually.
- USA, NY, New York: $188,100 - $254,500 USD annually.
Your package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
