About the role
The Defibrillation Solutions (DS) business within the Electrophysiology Therapies Operating Unit is made up of foundational Medtronic businesses such as the Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator business (ICD) and the Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillators (CRT-D) business. The DS product portfolio is among the largest revenue contributors across Medtronic with an extensive global footprint and exciting growth opportunities. As part of the DS business, the Commercial Marketing organization is seeking a driven and commercially-minded Principal Business Analyst. The Principal Business Analyst works as part of the DS Commercial/Downstream Marketing Team to help monitor and support the DS portfolio. This analyst will be responsible for supporting the team in making timely, data-driven business decisions. You will be deeply understand available internal and external data sources, analyze datasets to draw out critical insights, and make proactive recommendations to the leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to support high priority commercial initiatives by contributing to program/launch management activities and working with US field and global partners. Scope of work will include commercial, market, competitive, and operational topics, allowing you to gain exposure to a wide range of business priorities and enhance your business acumen. As such, you will partner with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, market development, finance, sales operations, Integrated Business Planning, and IT.

Responsibilities
- Integrate data across IT systems (Tableau, Salesforce.com, SAP, etc.) related to physician training status, implants, purchase orders, regional reporting, etc.
- Ensure data integrity through data audits and validation across systems and stakeholders (marketing, sales, medical education, customer service, etc.)
- Develop optimized dashboards using inputs from differing data sources; continuous improvement in reporting and customer segmentation is future state
- Establish automated reporting mechanisms for increased efficiencies
- Assist in financial modeling to identify insights that lead to data-driven decisions
- Utilize strong analytical and quantitative skills to integrate broad corporate/divisional business performance needs into franchise-level decision-making and strategic planning; implement marketing strategy processes and share knowledge about those processes
- Participate in cross-functional, cross-divisional data integration projects
- Track competitive business activities that enable product marketing and marketing development teams to develop informed portfolio strategies and commercial tactics
- Demonstrate strong business instincts, problem-solving skills, and organizational capabilities to communicate and influence effectively
- Own analytical commercial, market, and competitive insights, shaping the path for the business to become solidly data-driven
- Analyze complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external data sources to provide insight to decision-makers
- Produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools
- Identify trends and patterns in datasets to locate actionable insights
- Provide recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on internal business insights, competitor activity, industry dynamics, and market knowledge
- Provide consultation to cross-functional teams, including the field, to enhance decision-making and business reporting/dashboards
- Create templates and specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements
- Contribute to program management of high-priority strategic initiatives
Requirements
- Medical Device or healthcare industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in business analytics, commercial strategy, financial analysis, analytical marketing, and/or data mining, or Advanced degree with 5 years relevant experience in business analytics, financial analysis, analytical marketing, and/or data mining
- Solid data analytics and data mining skills
- Experience with: Sales Force, Tableau, Snowflake, Power BI/Business Objects, Financial Models, and Microsoft 365
- Proven IT and Business Analyst experience
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Cardiovascular/Diagnostic international markets, customers, and products
- Experience working in or with geographies outside of the United States
- Product planning, market research, sales analytics, financial modeling, and/or sales operations experience
- Advanced degree in the field of science, engineering, math, or statistics
- Program and project management experience
- Strong project management skills, accountability to meeting timelines
- Ability to revise existing systems and suggest improvements
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot software problems
- A strategic and analytic thinker
- Business-mindset, customer-oriented approach
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Pay
Salary ranges for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) locations: $120,800.00 - $181,200.00 USD. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
