About the role

Akamai Cloud! is seeking a Principal Architect with expertise in Operating Systems, Hypervisors, Virtual Machines, and Containers, with a strong inclination towards Cloud-Native technologies. This role involves leading the architecture and design of next-generation infrastructure services, collaborating with product managers and product architects, and contributing to the engineering roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the system design and implementation
  • Guiding engineering teams while ensuring alignment with the big picture
  • Informing product direction through collaboration with product and engineering management and other business stakeholders
  • Developing best practices, sharing knowledge, and mentoring
  • Collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment

Requirements

  • 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
  • Extensive experience building large-scale fault-tolerant, production services using Virtualization and Cloud-Native technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes concepts such as Operator/Controller patterns, custom resources, etc.
  • Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash
  • A good understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with experience in one or more public cloud offerings

Qualifications

  • Experience and good understanding of operating systems, containers, and the technologies that revolve around them (e.g., systemd, docker, containerd, ArgoCD, etc.)

  • Expertise in Operating Systems, Hypervisors, Virtual Machines, and Containers
  • Good Cloud-Native tendencies
  • Collaboration and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and related technologies
  • Experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash
  • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS

Pay

The base salary for this position ranges from $200,000 - $360,000/year, with additional incentive compensation opportunities. The compensation package may also include equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
