Principal Accountant, Payroll Deductions

Roles And Responsibilities

• Maintains and reports expenditures accurately in compliance with NJ TRANSIT policy, federal, and state regulations, and GAAP.
• Participates in implementing and developing NJ TRANSIT policies and procedures to enhance accounting operations.
• Distributes detailed reports to all levels of management for financial information and problem resolution.
• Reviews expenditures according to management requests or predetermined guidelines to ensure proper recording.
• Processes weekly and monthly interface files to Accounts Payable and ensures accurate and timely disbursements.
• Performs and reviews analyses of selected general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving reconciling items and accounting issues promptly.
• Provides oversight to lower-level accountants in performing specific tasks or special projects.

Education, Experience, And Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
• Five (5) years of applied accounting experience, preferably in Payroll.
