About the role
The Chemical Area Technician Level 2 is responsible for manufacturing, weighing, and transporting various chemical products. This position involves treating hazardous waste, maintaining logbooks, and performing various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Observes and follows all safety rules and corrects potential hazards.
- Produces Lead Styphnate, Tetrazene, Tri-Nitro Resorcinol (TNR), Washes, and Primer Fines.
- Weights and vacuums PETN and other products.
- Treats hazardous waste according to FCC's permit and regulations.
- Maintains logbooks for traceability and government agency requirements.
- Cleans work areas, including sweeping and shoveling snow, and assisting in cleaning settling tanks.
- Inventory chemicals and finished products daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Transports materials using trucks and material handling equipment.
- Interacts with supervisors, chemists, and colleagues for cross-training and covering absences.
- Maintains control system areas and the break room.
- Performs related projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent safety record and safe work habits.
- Computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow procedures and instructions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- High problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with occasional lifting and moving up to 30 pounds.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and obtain forklift certification.
- Must be able to obtain ATF Possessor license.
Qualifications
- Chemical Area Technician experience or background in explosives is preferred.

Pay
The starting hourly rate is $25.12. The actual annual salary will be mutually agreed upon based on experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements.
