About the role

The Behavioral Health Inpatient at Main Campus Dearth Tower offers individualized behavioral therapy and education/support services to patients and families on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized behavioral therapy for patients on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
  • Support families in understanding, accepting, and adhering to the recommendations of the behavioral health care team
  • Implement the treatment plan and assist in creating a therapeutic environment on the unit
  • Work alongside psychiatrists, therapists, and nurse practitioners to provide comprehensive care for children aged 4 to 18
  • Teach new emotional and behavioral skills to children in a fun and interactive manner
  • Ensure patients feel supported and cared for, helping them stay safe and emotionally stable

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work required
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related social sciences field required
  • A minimum of two years of experience in child and adolescent mental health field required
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques, family systems, and cognitive behavioral therapy required
  • Knowledge and experience with trauma-informed care is preferred

Qualifications

  • Professional license in area of specialty (e.g., Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) required
  • License in the state of Alabama required if not already obtained
  • If licensed in another state, must be in the process of obtaining Alabama licensure
