About the Role
Littlefield ISD seeks a caring and self-motivated individual to meet the academic, physical, and behavioral needs of students with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Attend multiple professional development opportunities regarding behavior and demonstrate competence in material presented.
- Provide instructional support and positive behavioral interventions to various students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.
- Routinely implement individualized instructional program (IEP accommodations, Behavior Intervention Plan) as developed by the ARD committee.
- Facilitate skill development in social appropriateness, anger management, and conflict resolution for students with disabilities.
- Routinely observe and record behavior data for professional staff.
- Provide feedback on a regular basis to teachers and administrators regarding student progress.
- Carry out the instructional programs and lessons designed by the supervising teacher.
- Provide positive reinforcements or activities for students on caseload.
- Be discreet and respectful of confidential information as required by Federal, State, and local governance.
- Assist various students with disabilities in transitioning between learning environments.
- Assist students in various hygienic/ADL needs (including hand washing, eating, toileting, diapering).
- Manage improper behavior of students, including intervening in crisis situations and physically restraining disruptive or dangerous students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Mental and Physical Demands
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, and make valid judgments and decisions based on data.
- Physical Demands: Physical stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, may require frequent lifting and carrying (less than 15 lbs), occasional heavy lifting (45 lbs and over), safely controlling behavior through physical restraint to prevent students from harming self or others.
