About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Physician to join a correctional health team in Houston, focusing on hands-on, mission-driven medicine with a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intake assessments, urgent care, chronic disease management, and emergency stabilization
  • Coordinate specialty referrals within a team-based care model
  • Manage a patient volume of approximately 2–3 patients per hour; higher-acuity cases are transferred to a nearby Level I Trauma Center
  • Work within a highly supported environment with RNs, LVNs, Psych Techs, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and full ancillary services
  • Deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care during night shifts, ensuring continuity of care and supporting population health

Requirements

  • Strong clinical skills in primary care, urgent care, and chronic disease management
  • Ability to work autonomously within a collaborative team
  • Experience with intake assessments and emergency stabilization
  • Comfort working with underserved populations in a correctional setting
