Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care to adult VA patients, including acute, chronic, and preventive care
- Perform medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage common medical conditions within scope of Family or Internal Medicine
- Provide health promotion and disease prevention services
- Order, review, and act on diagnostic tests and lab results
- Communicate test results to patients within VA-mandated timeframes
- Prescribe, adjust, and manage medications in accordance with VA policies
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify care plans as needed
- Complete all clinical documentation in CPRS (VA electronic health record) by end of shift
- Close patient encounters timely and accurately
- Comply with VA, Joint Commission, and national clinical standards
- Follow VA patient safety, infection control, and privacy requirements
- Coordinate care with VA clinical teams (RN, LPN, MSA support staff provided)
- Attend required staff meetings and quality improvement activities
- Provide discharge instructions and care coordination when applicable
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State or Territory
- Active NPI report
- Active DEA license
- Maintain an active AHA BLS
- Must be able to pass a Federal background investigation
