Primary Care – Assistant Medical Director

About the Role
We’re seeking an Assistant Medical Director who’s energized by purpose and committed to expanding access to outstanding primary care. In this full-time Keyport-based role, you’ll deliver hands-on patient care while shaping clinical quality, supporting providers, and strengthening care delivery across our CHC network.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality primary care (approx. 80% clinical / 20% administrative).
- Maintain an active patient panel and model evidence-based, culturally responsive care.
- Support clinical operations as an EHR Superuser, including onboarding and workflow optimization.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement, chart audits, peer review, and QI/QA activities.
- Facilitate efficient provider and clinical team meetings, including agenda planning and follow-up.
- Collaborate with Medical Director and Finance to monitor and achieve productivity goals.
- Support HRSA Operational Site Visit preparation and ensure compliance with HRSA, QRM, and FTCA standards.
- Foster strong communication and positive, collaborative relationships across all teams.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program.
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Active New Jersey medical license or eligibility for licensure.
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal and state CDS registration.
- 3–5+ years of clinical practice experience, including ambulatory care; FQHC experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of population health, quality metrics, and clinical analytics.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bilingual English–Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency with computers, data analysis, and Microsoft Office (including advanced Excel); nursing informatics background preferred.
- Valid NJ driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

- Use of medical equipment including thermometer, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, needles, syringes, EKG machine, venipuncture equipment, diagnostic equipment, spirometry treatment, culture mediums.
- Use of office equipment including telephone, fax, photocopier, computer, and printer.
Pay
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $200,000.00 to USD $296,000.00. When determining an offer, VNACJ CHC considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions. The total compensation range reflects the total package, including base salary, overtime, bonuses, add-on incentives, special clinical compensation, retirement plans, and all other benefits.
