Primary and Palliative Medical Assistant

Essential Duties

• Enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record.
• Answers phone calls from patients, physicians, and facilities regarding clinical items.
• Sends medical transcriptions (via fax or mail) to referring providers as needed.
• Assesses medical and medical education needs of the patient and provides education as directed by the provider.
• Reviews the provider's schedule throughout the day and prior to the start of shift to ensure patient flow.
• Follows up on orders, labs and imaging as needed.
• Obtains Prior Authorizations.
• Manages medication refills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• One (1) year of experience as a medical assistant
• Must have reliable transportation for work, valid driver’s license, and insurance coverage for automobile
• Knowledge of medical terminology, and medical office software preferred
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
• Maintain a high level of patient confidentiality
• Must also be able to multi-task, be detail oriented with excellent follow-through
• Remain flexible and work well with a team
• Able to communicate effectively and establish/maintain positive working relationships with employees and other customers
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
