Priest Chaplain

About the role

The Roman Catholic Priest Chaplain is an ordained priest granted faculties by the local Catholic Bishop. As an integral part of the Spiritual Care Department, he ministers to the religious, spiritual, and emotional needs of patients, families and staff of St. Jude Medical Center OR St. Joseph of Orange, placing special emphasis on the sacramental needs of Catholic patients.

Responsibilities

• Ministers to the religious, spiritual, and emotional needs of patients, families and staff of St. Jude Medical Center OR St. Joseph of Orange, placing special emphasis on the sacramental needs of Catholic patients.
• Provides spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff.
• Prepares for and participates in sacraments, particularly Eucharist and Reconciliation.
• Makes pastoral visits to patients and their families as needed.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Participates in team meetings and other departmental activities.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Theology/Spirituality/Pastoral Ministry.
• Completed (preferred) or in the process of completing 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
• Within 3 years of hire: National Chaplain Certification.

Qualifications

• Several years of pastoral experience following ordination.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with patients, families, and staff.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

This position is part-time and will work 8-hour, Day shifts.
