Priest Chaplain
About the role
The Pastoral Care Priest-Chaplain will meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of patients, family members, staff, and physicians. They will respond to emergency codes and practice the art of listening while being aware of their role as a ministry. They must be bilingual in Spanish and English and have a Master's degree, with 3 to 5 years of experience and at least 2 years of experience in a spiritual care setting as a chaplain or minister.
Responsibilities
- Meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of patients, family members, staff, and physicians.
- Respond to emergency codes indicated by the manager.
- Practice the art of listening and observe nonverbal behaviors.
- Be aware of their role as a ministry and work with people of different religious beliefs, values, or backgrounds.
- Deliver ministry to patients, families, and hospital staff of all ages and illnesses at Mercy Hospital.
- Report to the VP Mission.
Requirements
- Masters Degree, preferred
- 3 to 5 years experience, required
- At least 2 years working in a Spiritual Care setting as a chaplain or minister
- Roman Catholic Priest
- Bilingual, Spanish and English, preferred
