Job Summary
Assists Student Assistance Specialist with providing prevention and intervention services for students in assigned building. Works collaboratively with Administration, School Counselors, Teaching Staff and the Pupil Services Team to provide support for students struggling with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties.
Credential Requirements
- PA Certification as School Social Worker or Home & School Visitor; AND
- LSW - Licensed Social Worker or LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker;
- Must be willing to obtain additional certifications in accordance with any updated PDE requirements (CSPG #87)
- Master's degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience required
- Successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements
- Valid PA driver's license required
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve in a liaison role between school, agencies, and families communicating with outside therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists and other agency staff
- Education parents and staff on substance abuse issues for prevention and intervention purposes
- Aid in facilitating referrals and providing information for students and families to access community agencies for mental health and substance abuse
- Facilitate or co-facilitate intervention for at-risk students for prevention and/or crisis response. Have a working knowledge of suicide screening and/or assessment protocols. Guide families towards community resources in the event of a mental health emergency
- Facilitate educational support groups based upon student need
- Serve as a resource for faculty meetings and team meetings
- Oversee the building SAP or Student Assistance Team
- Maintain documentation regarding students who are referred to SAP, those who receive mental health or drug and alcohol treatment, and those screened or assessed for thoughts of suicide
- Work collaboratively with the Assigned Home and School Visitor. May also be a resource for families experiencing homelessness, job loss, issues related to guardianship, and/or truancy
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Assistant Specialist
- May be asked to provide Crisis Response throughout the District in the event of staff or student loss
- Should have comfort in completing home visits depending upon student need

Salary
$76,534 - $91,840
Schedule
7 hours per day based upon district-approved calendar 191 days per year (*pro-rated based upon length of LTS assignment)
